Desert Writers

Desert Writers is a close-knit group of Senior Citizen writers. Our membership is very diverse, but we share an interest in all forms of writing and an appreciation of the power of the written word. For the last twenty-eight years we have met at the senior center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. In our weekly sessions we present our writing and critique each others’ work. We have been fortunate to have been mentored by members of the teaching staff of New Mexico State University, who have given generously of their time and expertise.
Several of our members are published authors; others aspire to become published; still others write solely for their own enjoyment, or for their family and friends. All of us are here to improve our writing skills by learning from each other and our mentors.
We invite you to read and respond to our short stories, poetry, novels, memoir and non-fiction.
